Mazda showed off the all-new racing hardtop for the MX-5 Cup car designed to compete at the 2016 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race in Northern California. While this would be the second year for the new ND Miata based race car, 2016 was the debut of the competition hardtop designed to keep their drivers dry when the weather turns south.
Mazda North American Operations Director of Public Relations and Brand Experience Jeremy Barnes took time out his busy schedule at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit to talk a little bit about the team’s experience as well as shed a little insight as to when and where one of the new competition only hardtops can be acquired (mazdamotorsports.com).
Mazda Motorsports is now offering a factory-approved hardtop for its MX-5 Global Cup racecar.
Now with an available hardtop, Mazda racers can compete in SCCA and NASA Club Racing and in the Pirelli World Challenge TCA class, said David Cook, business development manager, Mazda Motorsports.
