Sway Bars and Bushings Installed

Since the “Craigslist Special” version of our Flyin Miata cup kit seemed to be working so well, we went whole hog and tied each side of the suspension together with some way thicker sway bars. For comparison, the stock rear bar is bendable simply by looking at it with a hard stare, these new pieces are way more substantial.

On first impression, things are way tighter and the chassis feels much stiffer. However, there is now a constant squeak like noise coming from the right rear sway bar bushing. A little grease seemed to quiet it down for a few miles, but the sound came right back. It might be time for a louder exhaust.

The Hole Revisited

What started out as harmless little hole in the carpet, caused by years of heels digging in as the driver pushed down on the gas pedal, has now become a giant gaping chasm. At lease this way when the inspection plate above the frame rail came loose it was really easy to put back without the hassle of pulling up the carpet. This will require some serious attention.

Mazdas @JCCS2017

One of the highlights come car show season in Southern California is the Japanese Classic Car Show, or as it’s more commonly know JCCS. Mazda is always well represented ranging from rotary-powered racecars and pickups; to a bevy of Miatas adorned with rare Mazdaspeed roof scoops, Garage Vary rear clusters with two-tone Porter taillights and Momo Prototipos with Racing Mate horn buttons waiting to be pushed.
