A very good friend of the Craigslist Miata set about to build the ultimate Miata for SEMA and ended up breaking the internet in the process. Known throughout social media as trmnl5; the MX-5 is sister car to trmnl7 and trmnl8 which are highly modified Mazda RX-7 and RX-8s. These cars sport aggressive over the top aero, super low suspensions and a healthy amount of boost; and still serve as daily drivers seeing regular street duty.
We met the man behind Tomimomoto Films while he was shooting Formula D for Mad Mike, and he actually made Mike give me an interview, and after driving a very factory Miata Club decided to take things full tilt. Tommy told us of his plans to build the ND earlier this year, and as the plan was just starting to come together the biggest news of all was his title sponsor.
The Toyo Tires Treadpass has transformed a once nondescript concrete corridor known for cigarette smoke and high winds into the premiere place to showcase a car at SEMA. So it was great to see the big winged wide body Miata sitting at the entrance, right next to the Pandem/Greddy FC which happened to win best in show.
