FD Thursday Night Drift @ Irwindale Speedway Orlando layout

It is no secret that I love drifting, and part of owning RWD is being able to use it. While this wasn’t the Craigslist Miata’s first time at Irwindale Speedway Thursday Night Drift it was the first with some serious walls.

I decided to only make a couple runs to insure we would live to fight another day. I am glad, because not long after a very nice custom Mustang spun around into the inside wall. Side impact airbags and all.

Now how did that happen? And a little lipstick for my pig

Now I am certainly no stickler when it comes to door dings and bodywork on the Craigslist Miata, but there was one thing that was bothering me. Maybe it was that my brother just changes his, or I got tired of resting my arm on the dirty rotten window seal that I decided it to be an easy enough job to tackle. As long as I was in there I removed the taillight cover in order to see why my license plate lights weren’t working, because the law says they should and I do enjoy driving at night.

Obligatory Miata RF shots from NYAS

While at the New York International Auto Show we couldn’t help but stop by the Mazda booth. Sitting pretty front and center was the all new Miata RF retractable hardtop covered in Soul Red Metallic paint. While these cars look amazing on the street, there is just something about the way these cars are lit up that ensure photos don’t do them justice. So Mazda, please do something so that we can make your cars look as good in the virtual world as they do in the real one.

The Miata’s split personality on display at the Long Beach Grand Prix

Mazda has always boasted that “on any given weekend there are more Mazdas road racing than any other brand” and with the Miata being the best selling roadster of all time it would figure that there should be a lot of race prepped MX-5s out there in the world. Now that Mazda will sell you a track ready Miata straight from the showroom complete with a global series to compete in, they had an interesting way of showing off the all new fourth generation ND and its dual purpose personality at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Although I don’t think this one will pass tech.
